When love drives you crazy . . .
When sexy Joe Malone never calls after their explosive kiss, Kylie shoves him out of her mind. Until she needs a favor, and it’s a doozy. Something precious to her has been stolen and there’s only one person with unique finder-and-fixer skills that can help—Joe. It means swallowing her pride and somehow trying to avoid the temptation to throttle him—or seduce him.
the best thing to do . . .
No, Joe didn’t call after the kiss. He’s the fun time guy, not the forever guy. And Kylie, after all she’s been through, deserves a good man who will stay. But everything about Kylie makes it damned hard to focus, and though his brain knows what he has to do, his heart isn’t getting the memo.
… is enjoy the ride.
As Kylie and Joe go on the scavenger hunt of their lives, they discover surprising things about each other. Now, the best way for them to get over “that kiss” might just be to replace it with a hundred more.
Jill Shalvis is a favorite of mine, but it just seems like she gets better and better. I absolutely adored Kylie. She had an nontraditional upbringing but still turned into a strong and successful woman. Kylie absolutely did not want Joe to just sweep in and fix all her problems (which was definitely his go to attitude).
Despite Joe’s “I’ll fix everything for you” attitude he is one of my favorite heros. He had some damage of his own, but the fact that we saw that sweet and caring side with his family goes a long way to coming to terms with him wanting to fix all the things.
The romance is steamy and filled with tension (my favorite kind) but it also had a little mystery in it which added something special to Joe and Kylie’s story. While at first it seemed a little ridiculous (a little penguin statue was being held hostage) as you begin to find out more things, why the statue is important and what the person is trying to obtain with the hostage situation) it no longer seems ridiculous. I also really enjoyed all of Kylie’s disguises in an effort to go on the investigation with Joe.
While of course About That Kiss has an HEA for Joe and Kylie, I like that not everything is really 100% resolved. The relationship between Kylie and her mom definitely still needs work.
If you enjoy romances I highly recommend About That Kiss, and the rest of the Heartbreaker Bay series.
