Welcome to our Sundays In Bed With… Meme! The meme that dares to ask what book has been in your bed this morning? Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed, or which book you wish you had time to read today!
We’re done trying to make this a blog hop, but still feel free to participate! Maybe someday we’ll try to make it happen as a blog hop again, but right now we feel like Gretchen trying to make ‘fetch’ happen.
This morning Kim is reading:
Perfect Scoundrels (Heist Society #3) by Ally Carter
Kate here: Hopefully Kim is sleeping in or busy baking me some great low carb, low sugar treats (hey, I can dream!). So, I had to resort to stalking her Goodreads, which to be fair, was no hardship. I know Kim loves this series, so I hope this latest book is bringing her some bookish joy. Kim is probably actually doing stuff for school, but sometimes adulting sucks, and you need a break. So, Kim, if you’re reading this, it’s time for D.E.A.R.- Drop Everything And Read, for at least 30 minutes pretend you’re still in high school and it’s summer break and you still don’t have a job so you actually have time to read while listening to the 90s music I know you love.
This morning Kate is reading:
I’m currently listening to this one on my Libro.fm app, and I’m really enjoying it. The author is coming to Fountain on Tuesday, and I’m planning on going to the event to help out. It’s a little frustrating, realizing how little these women were recognized for their work, but it’s pretty awesome to realize that these women were brave enough and honorable enough to help out the war effort even though they received little or no credit for their effort. It makes me realize how spoiled I am and how much ego stroking I expect just for showing up at work (like, Great job, Kate! You not only woke up, but you showered and dressed in clean clothes! You are the best!). I am seriously being all whiny this month because I have only a few days off all month, but one woman in Code Girls, Dot, was teaching in a small town and ended up teaching a billion or so classes at once because everyone else kept leaving, and then she’d have to teach their classes too… thankfully she managed to last the year before deciding to move home and then she ended up in DC. Reason #16 why I will never ever time travel to the past: life would be exhausting, and I couldn’t Netflix and Chill because there is no Netflix, and Chill time in the 1940’s meant learning to cook over a open flame because you gave you pots and pans to the war effort so they could make tanks.
tl;dr: Kim should D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) and Kate is too damn lazy to time travel into the past. Also women Code Breakers in WWII were badasses.
