August was another mixed month for Kim and I. I traveled- to the beach and to a haunted prison, and Kim was busy with her family and friends and now I’ve lost her to the dreaded BACK TO SCHOOL time. So, it’ll be mostly just me for the next two months or so, while Kim dives into the joys, the sorrows, the exhaustion of being a high school math teacher.
What Kate Read:
Best Book: Nevernight & Alone- I liked these both a lot! Nevernight was a wonderful audiobook (totally recommend listening!) and main character Mia felt like she’d be bff’s with Arya Stark if they weren’t both so busy avenging their murdered families. Alone was the young adult haunted house book of my dreams. I’m going to have to go back and read more of Cyn Balog’s books!
Least Favorite: Again, my reads were all good. I do wish I’d listened to Neil Patrick Harris’s book on audio, since I ended up just reading it from cover to cover (Oh, that’s right, I didn’t bother making any choices except for reading like the rebel chick that I am), but I still loved it.
It’s funny, because when I travel, I also bring lots of books… which I rarely get a chance to read because I’m too busy doing other stuff. Two of the books I read were re-reads (The Readers of the Broken Wheel Recommend and Underground Airlines), and one was a kid’s book I read at work (how cute does Creepy Pair of Underwear look?!) because it’s legit my job to read kids books in our spare time (in order to make better recommendations)- but we got a whole new operating system last week, so I’ve been busy learning that. So August was busy, but I still got in some fantastic books. September is going to be awesome though, because September 1st is when I officially call it Fall, and Fall is my favorite reading season.
What Kim Read:
Going from Kim’s Goodreads ratings, Born a Crime was her favorite (ya’ll, it’s so good) and Kiss Don’t Tell was her least favorite (yes, because Kim is busy and I am so not about to disturb her, I had to creep around Goodreads to figure out what she’s read). September is going to be super busy for Kim, but hopefully she’ll have a little time for herself to either sleep or enjoy a great book.
