Welcome to our Sundays In Bed With… Meme! The meme that dares to ask what book has been in your bed this morning? Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed, or which book you wish you had time to read today!
We’re done trying to make this a blog hop, but still feel free to participate! Maybe someday we’ll try to make it happen as a blog hop again, but right now we feel like Gretchen trying to make ‘fetch’ happen.
This morning Kim is reading:
The Love That Split the World by Emily Henry
Kate here: It’s getting close to that time of year where we’ll lose Kim for awhile. School will be starting up soon, and usually that means it takes until about October for Kim’s schedule to go from OMG I”M SUPER EXTREMELY BUSY DON’T TRY TO TALK TO ME BECAUSE I LEGIT HAVE NO TIME AND I’M SO EXHAUSTED to I’M STILL SUPER BUSY BUT IF I DON’T TAKE SOME KIND OF TIME FOR MYSELF I’LL NEVER GET OUT OF ALL CAPS MODE. For any of you who are currently teachers or have taught in the past, you know this to be fairly accurate. And even though Kim will be super extremely busy and slightly crazed, she loves her job and her students and that makes it worth it. For her. Because I would be a horrible teacher. Here’s a quick peek at what it would look like if I were in Kim’s shoes:
Student #1: Um, Mrs. T? Aren’t we supposed to be learni-
Me (Mrs. T): Silence! What part of Silent Reading Time don’t you kids get?
Student #2 (because let’s be honest, I have not bothered to learn their names): But, Mrs. T, this is Geometry class, not English.
Me: You know what, Student #2, you can just take that attitude and march it right down to the principal’s office, because I’m on chapter 18 and shiz just got real.
And that, my friends, is why Kim is the best math teacher in the world, where as I am the worst. 🙂
This morning Kate is reading:
Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney
I started this one yesterday (and on cd instead of my usual Libro or Overdrive or Audible app, so I can’t speed up the playback). My co-worker Diane (who I have the most in common with bookwise) recommended it. Here’s how the book starts:
My name is Amber Reynolds. There are three things you should know about me:
1. I’m in a coma.
2. My husband doesn’t love me anymore.
3. Sometimes I lie.
I’m on a huge thriller kick anyway, because it’s my way of making Fall happen (I’m done with Summer, bring on the pumpkin flavored everything, the falling leaves, Halloween and the autumn chill and scent).
I’m also gearing up for Bloggers Dressed In Blood!
So, years past I hosted (along with other book bloggers) a Halloween inspired blog event called Bloggers Dressed In Blood. We did scary book reviews, did some mini-challenges, and even did a few prizes. This year will be a bit different. It’s going to run from September thru October, people won’t have to sign up to participate (seriously, sometimes I feel like I’m less likely to participate if I’ve actually made some kind of a commitment), there will be reviews and discussions and fun challenges that are just for entertainment. I also plan on re-reading the Odd Thomas series, so there may be an informal read-a-long (see, no pressure to join! No pressure to start and finish by a certain date!). I just want to celebrate Fall and Halloween and all the books that put me in the mood for the season. Although, for those of you who don’t like horror, there will be plenty of other fun stuff to read about, I promise!
I’ll have a more in-depth post about Bloggers Dressed In Blood when I get closer to September (my 2 youngest nieces are helping me create a proper chilling image to use for the event), but just wanted to give ya’ll a heads up!
