Today I’m participating in Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon!
I literally look forward to this day twice a year, and this year I’m happy to include my nieces, Grace and Kerry, in on the fun. They came over last night… because they’re 17 and 15 and waking up early and getting here by our 8 am start time just didn’t seem possible. 🙂
I’ll be on Instagram a lot: https://www.instagram.com/midnightbookgirl/
and on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Midnghtbookgirl
and on the Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/deweys24hourreadathon/?fref=nf
This Readathon I’ll be mostly cheering, but I do have a super unrealistic Pile O’Books anyways:
Slovenly Kate and Other Stories
Cemetery Girl, Vol. 2 : Inheritance
Lumberjanes, Vol.1: Beware the Kitten Holy
Harrow County, Vol. 1: Countless Haints
The Graveyard Book, Graphic Novel Vol. 2
Courtney Crumrin, Vol. 1: The Night Things
A Bental Brief
Tales From the Crypt Vol. 3
It Did Happen
Added, but not pictured:
The Walking Dead Comic #97
The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore
This Savage Song
My stack o’books, Kerry, my puppy Pages and Grace
We’re doing a tea theme, so my niece Kerry made Pumpkin Pasties (we are hardcore Harry Potter fans here) and macaroons.
I’m making tea sandwiches (Pimento cheese, cucumber and cream cheese, and chocolate hazelnut and raspberry preserve sandwiches).
Potato soup for dinner.
And lots of snacks- including a veggie tray so we don’t completely gorge on crap.
Because I did buy 2 of the 3 new M&M flavors- Honey Nut and Chili Nut, sadly they didn’t have any Coffee Nut, but we might be able to find it.
Later we will be taking a tiny break to go to Carytown Cupcakes and buy their Game of Thrones themed cupcakes:
Don’t they sound amazing??? Yes, there will be pictures later.
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Richmond, Virginia. Mostly from my house, but we do plan on hitting up Panera and Carytown Cupcakes
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
It Did Happen (a graphic novel based on the author’s personal life after a guy she dated once is involved in what looks like, at first, a home invasion that left him shot and his current girlfriend dead) and Lumberjanes, so many people were recommending it!
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
My niece made her awesome Pumpkin Pasties! But those cupcakes sound amazing, and I can’t wait to try a Red Wedding.
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
My name is Kate, I stay up late (to read… sometimes). I’ve been readathoning for years now, but this is the first time I’m having my nieces join in. I’m very excited how excited they are to be nerdy. My puppy, Pages, was just spayed Thursday, so I thought she’d be curling up to sleep with us most of the day… but she’s almost 100% and bouncing off the walls in her usual manner.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I’m mostly cheerleading, which is what I’ve done for the last several Readathons, and other then my nieces joining in… I guess the only thing different is that I’ll be cheering on Twitter exclusively, and on the Readathon Facebook group.
