Welcome BACK to my Sundays In Bed With… Meme! The meme that dares to ask what book has been in your bed this morning? Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed, or which book you wish you had time to read today!
I know, I know, I switched to In Bed With a Book meme, but I’m switching back. I’m done trying to make this a blog hop, but still feel free to participate! Maybe someday I’ll try to make it happen as a blog hop again, but right now I feel like Gretchen trying to make ‘fetch’ happen.
This morning I’m reading:
Shadow and Bone (The Grisha #1) by Leigh Bardugo
No, I am not the last person on the planet to read Shadow and Bone. It just feels that way.
I may have got Shadow and Bone mixed up with Daughter of Smoke and Bone, and both were hyped up all over the place when they first came out. I finally got into Daughter of Smoke and Bone (and loved it), but Shadow and Bone remained this mysterious book that I wasn’t sure I wanted to read. Also, I may have thought it was about Geishas.
But then I read Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and was pretty much blown away by it (and where I learned the difference between Grisha and Geisha). I had already gotten the audiobook by then, which I picked up during an Audible sale, so I determined to listen to it this first month of the year (along with another first in the series, Throne of Glass).
I’m not too far in, but I’m already enjoying Shadow and Bone. I’m also all over the idea of Tailor Grisha, because unlike main character, Alina, I would be all for a little Grisha Magic Makeover.
So I highly anticipate getting sucked into this series while I await Crooked Kingdoms (Six of Crows #2).
What are you reading (or wish you had time to read) this morning? Are you reading the book you thought you’d be reading, or has today found you with a surprise?
