Mallory Quinn has had enough of playing it safe. As a nurse and devoted daughter, she takes care of everyone but herself. And as the local good girl, she's expected to date Mr. Right. But for once, she'd like to take a risk on Mr. Wrong. And who could be more wrong than Ty Garrison? The mysterious new guy in town has made it clear that he's only passing through, which suits Mallory just fine. Besides, his lean, hard body and sexy smile will give her plenty to remember once he's gone . . .
For the first time in his life, Ty can't bear to leave. Helping this sexy seductress-in-training walk on the wild side is making him desire things he shouldn?t?including leaving the military for good. As their just-for-fun fling becomes something more, Mallory and Ty wonder if they could really be this lucky in love. After all . . . anything can happen in a town called Lucky Harbor.
I love audio books. In the author’s notes on the audio version of Joe Hill’s NOS4A2, he talks about how the first stories we learn are read to us. I listen to audio books when I’m in the car, shopping, and playing Candy Crush Soda Saga or Trivia Crack.
In typical book blogger fashion, I already have a tbr shelf just for audio books. Reviewing them is a bit more difficult, because I don’t take notes and I don’t always know how to spell the characters names. So these reviews will be a little different from my book reviews.
I forgot how much I loved the Lucky Harbor books! Book 4 introduces a new trio of women, who love chocolate and hot men as much as I do. The focus of Lucky in Love is on nurse Mallory. She’s a good girl ready to be a little bad. Enter Mr. Wrong but super sexy, Ty Garrison. Their chemistry is intense, but he’s dealing with PTSD and a job that makes normal relationships impossible. A job he has every intention of going back to once he’s back in fighting shape.
Between panty melting hookups, Mallory is also trying to open up a clinic to help the underprivileged of Lucky Harbor and the towns close by against much push back, and dealing with the guilt for not having saved her teenage sister from a tragic fate.
Mallory and Ty are both great characters, selfless and giving. They realize that they have something special but both know it can’t work out with the way things stand. Through each other, and the magic that is the community of Lucky Harbor, Mallory and Ty slowly learn to forgive themselves for past mistakes (real or imagined) and to grab on to some of the happiness that they deserve. Of course in between all of this is plenty of sexy times and chocolate cake. Mmm, chocolate cake.
Once more, I found the residents of Lucky Harbor quirky and enchanting, keeping me in smiles and giggles. I can’t wait to continue with the series, it’s like slice after slice of delicious yet sexy cake!
Suehyla El Attar is a new-to-me narrator, but I really liked her narration. Romance novels can be a bit tricky, but she managed to bring the heat and the humor that Jill Shalvis is so good at dishing out. I would definitely listen to her read other books!
