I follow the lovely ladies of Books and Sensibility and when I saw their post about making a TBR jar, I was all over it. Now, they got their inspiration from other bloggers as well, but theirs was the post that introduced me to the idea of making a glittery jar from which to pull my next TBR book. And for once, instead of pinning a billion cool projects, I actually made it!
First I bought some glitter spray paint. I had been hoping to find a multi-color glitter or a midnight blue/silvery color, but I only looked at what Wal-Mart had. I bought the silver and gold (the only other color was red) and a clear coat that’s suppose to prevent the glitter from flaking off. I also bought blue post it notes to write down the tbr titles. I was originally going to buy a mason jar to use, but saw this cookie jar and thought it would be cool.
First coat- gold glitter!
Then I added a coat of silver. And then I sprayed the clear coat liberally, because you know how glitter is!
I thought I’d start with about 25 titles from my tbr shelves. I also made a master list on the computer in order to keep track of what I’m putting in the jar and pulling out as well. I took blue post-its, used the back side to write down the names and then…
Folded them in half, twice.
Then I began to add them to the jar.
Until all 25 were in the TBR Jar.
Then it was time to draw!
Looks like I’ll be starting with Out of the Easy!
And now my cool new TBR Jar sits on one of my many, many TBR Shelves.
I actually had a lot of fun with this project and it was pretty cheap and easy. It looks really pretty too, although my picture doesn’t it do it justice!
